About Alison Cooper
I’m Alison — a watercolour illustrator based in Hampshire. At Alison Cooper Studio, every piece of artwork tells a story. From bespoke commissions to ready-to-buy original pieces, illustrated prints and cards, I create unique hand drawn artwork designed to capture memories, places, and moments.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect illustrated gift, personalised wedding stationery, a house portrait, or a commission for something completely unique — I bring creativity and care to every project, working with individuals, charities and organisations locally and around the world.

What I Create
My work covers two main areas: ready-to-buy illustrated artwork, products and personal commissions. Products include themed prints, cards and illustrated maps – available directly through my online shop. Or you can commission a bespoke illustration: My commissions range from property and village illustrations to wedding stationery, event artwork, and personal keepsakes combining artistry with a personal touch.
Whether you’d like to browse unique illustrated products or commission something bespoke, I’d love to help. Explore the shop for ready-to-buy items, or get in touch to discuss your own personal project.
The Process:
How a bespoke commission works
Every commission is personal. Here’s how Alison works with you from first conversation to finished artwork — whether it’s a house portrait, wedding stationery, illustrated map or any other bespoke illustration.
1.
Get in touch & have a chat
Give Alison a ring or drop her an email. Whether it’s wedding invitations, a personalised birthday gift, a house portrait, a village map, memory map, illustrated poem, or something else entirely — a quick chat is the best place to start. You can discuss ideas, size, finish, price and delivery at this stage.
2.
Pencil sketch for approval
Once you’ve shared your ideas — images, labels, names, dates and any text — Alison produces a pencil sketch so you can see how the composition will look. You can change anything at this stage. Every detail is double-checked: names, dates, spellings, times.
3.
Ink drawing
Once the composition is agreed, Alison begins the drawing with a fine waterproof ink pen. The ink is applied carefully by hand — creating the detailed linework that makes each piece distinctive.
4.
Watercolour wash
With the ink drawing complete, the watercolour wash is added — the really fun bit. Working from a small palette of colours (e.g. yellow ochre, sap green, cerulean blue, burnt sienna, rose madder), the result is artwork with warmth, charm and a subtlety that digital printing simply can’t replicate.
5.
Final approval & delivery
When the artwork is finished, Alison sends you a photo for final sign-off. You can collect in person or have it posted — unframed artwork is rolled carefully into a sturdy cardboard tube and sent tracked. Framing options are available on request.
Local & Beyond
Illustrations rooted in Hampshire & beyond
Alison is based in Hampshire, and many of her illustrated artwork, maps, cards and commissions celebrate the villages, towns and landscapes of the Test Valley and beyond. But her work travels further — commissions come from across the UK and around the world.
